Are You Living a Second-Rate Life?

If so, there’s still time to change it

Let me ask you something…

Are you settling for a second-rate life? Are you leaving your dreams and desires to melt away on the back burner?

Are you waiting for the perfect opportunity to take action? Are you comfortable telling yourself now’s not the time to proceed?

It’s hard to admit to yourself you’re not living the life you want to. To save face, we tell ourselves everything is exactly how we want it to be — yet deep down yearn for something better.

I see it happen all the time.

When things are good… when bills are paid… when food is in the fridge and everyone’s smiling… it’s easy to get comfortable with life and complacent about making any changes to it.

I mean, why strive for something more if you don’t have to?

If everything is fine the way it is, why make any changes?

These are serious and honest questions.

But they’re also a front for dodging responsibility and action.

To put this into perspective, I want you to reflect on something.

A nurse once recorded the most common regrets of people on their deathbed. And the top regret of all was this:

“I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.”

Read that one more time.

Now let me ask you again…

Are you living a second-rate life? Or are you living the exact life you’ve always dreamed of and desired?

If you’re not where you want to be, then admit it to yourself. Don’t push it away. Don’t bury it and wait. Don’t sit around and hope and pray for a day when things get better.

There’s nothing wrong with wanting something more or something better. But there is something wrong with regretting a life that never was but could have been.

When you read the words “the life you were born to live,” do you feel like you’re living it?

If not, then you still have time to make it so.

Halt right there!
