Before You Create, Do This

Or else you may be paving your path to failure

Before you:

— Build a successful business
— Run a successful blog, or
— Attract an audience of true and raving fans,

There’s one all-important task you must do first.

A task SO IMPORTANT that it could literally mean the difference between astronomical success and absolute failure.

If you skip this task, you’ll always be fighting an uphill battle — every day trying to push a boulder up a mountain.

But if you give this task the attention it deserves, you’ll find it’s more like rolling a snowball down a hill. You’ll go with instead of against, and allow your efforts to pick up momentum and get bigger as it goes.

So what is this all-important task?

Simply this:

Know who you want to serve.

And I don’t mean at a superficial level.

I mean really really know them.

For example:

You don’t want to serve “women.”

You want to serve “women between the ages of 25–40 with at least 1 kid and a job that pays the bills, but they’ve had enough of it.”

Do you see what I’m doing there? I’m narrowing this person down to get a clearer picture of who I want to serve.

You can take this even further, too.

What are their hobbies? What do they like? What do they dislike? What keeps them up at night feeling stressed? What problems do they want to solve? What are they afraid of? In what areas of their life are they feeling pain? What’s their family like? What’s their social circle like?

And on and on and on and on.

The more detailed you can make this person, the more effectively you’ll be able to serve them.

When you do this, everything becomes easier.

You’ll know exactly what to do in your business.

You’ll know exactly what to write about.

You’ll know exactly what to create.

You’ll know exactly what your audience wants.

And you’ll know this because you spent the time narrowing down the exact type of person you want to help.

So before you do anything else, ask yourself:

Who is it that I want to serve?

Answer this with clarity and the rest will naturally fall into place.

Halt right there!
