So you’ve picked a location independent skill you:

  1. Already know how to do, or
  2. Are willing to learn and to master.

Now what?

If you’ve been following along, you might be able to guess that the next logical step is to create a profile on Upwork so you can start winning jobs and earning money.

Let’s do that now.

I want you to follow these steps:

— Go to Upwork.com
— Click “Sign Up” in the top right-hand corner
— Follow the prompts to create your account
— Choose that you want to “Work as a freelancer”
— Read over the legal agreements
— Click “Create My Account” to finish

As soon as you create your account, you’re going to be prompted to start filling out your profile. You may also receive a message like this before starting:

Upwork is highly competitive

Here’s the deal:

There are loads of people applying to be freelancers on Upwork.

In order to make sure there aren’t too many freelancers with the same skills (which oversaturates the talent pool), Upwork doesn’t just approve everyone. This is good news, but it can also be discouraging.

The good news is that because Upwork limits the number of freelancers with certain skills, you don’t have an endless sea of competition.

The discouraging part is when your profile gets denied.

But listen to me and listen to me good:

EVERYONE I’ve helped get on Upwork had their profile denied at first. Not a single one of them was approved right away. But guess what? They all kept trying, and eventually, they all got approved.

Now they’re all on Upwork earning extra money. No exceptions.

So, even though your profile might not get approved right away, don’t let that discourage you. As long as you continue doing everything right, YOU WILL get approved eventually. It’s just a matter of persistence.

So go ahead and click “Start My Profile” and then follow the steps.

If you want to wait, I’ll walk you through the process in the next one.

Halt right there!
