How to Find Your Passion & Purpose
Sometimes it’s where you least expect it
“How do you figure out what you want to do in life?”
That’s a question that gets thrown around quite a bit.
And if you’re someone who’s starting to get sick of all the aimless wandering, perhaps it’s time to buckle up and pay attention.
Because here’s the thing…
Passion and purpose don’t always come knocking on your door.
In reality, you have to go out and find it.
And not only find it, but also cultivate a deep relationship with it.
All too often, I see people waiting for the “right thing” to just fall into their lap. They bounce around from job to job, dipping their hands in every jar they can find, hoping and praying the perfect path will suddenly be revealed.
Sometimes people actually figure things out that way.
But most of the time… they don’t.
And then they find themselves approaching 40 with not a clue where they want to be or what they want to do.
Sound familiar?
Because if so, there’s something you should know.
The truth is…
You don’t lack passion and purpose.
You have a problem staying committed.
You fall in love with something, try it out for a bit, and then the moment it starts to get boring or monotonous, you quit and peel for the exit.
It’s a constant turnover of jobs, projects, ideas, and opportunities.
You have to stop doing this.
You have to learn to fall in love with something and stay in love with it.
It’s a skill. A process.
It’s a relationship that grows over time.
You don’t have a problem building a fire…
… you have a problem keeping it burning.
When you start something new — even if you’re interested in it — there’s going to come a time when it’s not all rainbows and butterflies.
And it’s at that moment when most people will quit and change directions.
But for those who find passion and purpose in life?
They keep going.
They push forward.
They work at it even when the work’s not glorious.
And then something magical happens.
They start to fall in love.
They start to get proficient.
And they start to achieve mastery.
But only because they kept the fire burning.
So if you’re struggling to find passion and purpose in your life…
… let me leave you with this.
It’s not always about waiting for the path to be revealed. Sometimes, it’s about forging your own and then falling in love with it along the way.
Halt right there!
