Reality-Shaking Life Wisdom Straight from the Black Eyed Peas
Where’s the love now, folks?
I’ve been re-visiting some Black Eyed Peas music lately.
Man, they had some bangers.
They also have some pretty powerful and potent lyrics in their songs. Most notably, in their 2003 breakout hit “Where Is the Love?” featuring my main man, Justin Timberlake.
Here’s a section from the end of that song:
Wrong information always shown by the media.
Negative images is the main criteria.
Infecting the young minds faster than bacteria.
Kids wanna act like what they see in the cinema.
Now go ahead and finish the rest of that verse in your head.
I know you want to.
It’s almost impossible not to do it, right?
Anyway, look at those lyrics again. Look at how honest they are. Look at how illuminating they are.
When I first heard this song, I was just entering high school. I know I loved it back then, and I’m sure I also knew the words. But I never really appreciated those words until now.
Why? Because they’re the truth.
The media is toxic.
Fear and negativity are the main criteria.
And every day, children worldwide are subject to the hypnotic and destructive programming contained within it.
The Black Eyed Peas tried telling us that almost 20 years ago.
Did you listen?
Because if not, you might be wise to listen now.
Morning person? Night owl?
