The Magic of Keeping Your Commitments

I mean, who else is going to do it?

You may already know this…

But on December 19th, 2019 — my 30th birthday — I made a commitment to myself. And that commitment was that I would write and publish a new article every day for at least a year.

The idea was simple:

Sharpen my writing skills and get used to producing content on a consistent basis. I told myself as long as I did this, it would open every door I ever needed in my life.

I wasn’t wrong, either.

Today’s article is #271.

And my life has changed completely since I started this.

Incredible opportunities have fallen from the sky… Life-changing relationships have materialized out of nowhere… My work is being seen, read, and appreciated more each passing day.

All because I kept my word and stayed committed to my goal.

Yes, sometimes I don’t know what to write about.

Yes, sometimes I’d rather not write anything at all.

Yes, sometimes I stare at a blank screen and curse the task at hand.

But I do it anyway.

I keep my commitment.

I sit down and do the work because I know the work will pay off.

In fact, it has paid off — in ways I can’t even begin to describe.

But if I would’ve taken the easy route… or not written something because I didn’t feel like… or told myself it was okay to miss a day here and there…

I’d never be where I am today.

I’d never be enjoying the fruits of my own labor.

And I sure as heck wouldn’t have 270 articles under my belt.

But you know what? I do have 270 articles under my belt — and I’m damn proud of it, too.

I have no doubt the next hundred will take me even further.

Halt right there!
