This Is What Makes You Different
And it’s something no one can take away
I was recently asked a question that really got me thinking.
Now, to give you some context, the question came during a conversation I was having about my writing and what my intentions are with my writing.
Naturally, they were curious about Dan Manifest and what he was all about.
And then the question came:
“What makes you different from everyone else?”
i.e., what makes you different from all of the other people in the personal and spiritual development space.
I didn’t really have an answer for her.
The best I could come up with was:
“I don’t really know. But I’m excited to find out along the way.”
Which is true.
I am excited to find out along the way.
But at that moment, I had no idea what made me any different.
This is a dangerous question.
And it’s dangerous because it has the potential to kill motivation.
Someone might hear that question and think to themselves:
“Well, nothing makes me different. There’s nothing special or unique about me or my experiences that makes me stand out. What if I don’t stand out? Will anyone listen to me if I’m not different enough? Why me and not someone else?”
You can see how slippery this slope can get.
But then I thought about the question a bit more.
And it dawned on me…
What makes me different is my PERSPECTIVE.
And it’s exactly what makes you different, too.
See, no matter what you try to do in life, there’s a good chance someone else has already done it bigger and better than you could ever imagine.
For most, that’s reason enough to give up and stop trying.
After all, if someone’s already done it so well, why would they care about you?
This is very limiting way to look at things.
Why? Because there’s always room for more PERSPECTIVE.
Think about it this way…
Person A might say a message that doesn’t resonate with you at all.
But then Person B says THE EXACT SAME MESSAGE and it moves you to action.
How? How can two people say the same thing and get different results?
It’s simple…
One perspective helped you connect the dots while the other one didn’t.
And without those varying perspectives, there’s a chance you would have never received the message.
Interesting, right?
There are people out there who will never be able to connect the dots until YOUR PERSPECTIVE connects it for them.
Remember that.
It’s your perspective that makes you different.
It’s your perspective that makes you unique.
And it’s your perspective that helps you lead the way.
No one can take that from you.
And no one can emulate it, either.
So the next time someone asks what makes you different…
… you’ll know exactly what to say.
Halt right there!
