Two Steps Forward, One Step Back

Still gets you ahead

Last year, my goal was to write and publish an article every day.

I did that, and then some — but I wasn’t perfect with it.

In fact, there were some days when, for one reason or another, I actually missed my article and had to catch up on it. Meaning I had to write and publish MORE than one article in a day.

This happened more than I care to admit.

And to be honest with you, when it did happen, it sucked.

I always felt this pressure to deliver. I always felt like I HAD to catch up. And I always felt like I was behind if I didn’t.

In truth, I wasn’t behind.

I didn’t have to catch up.

And I didn’t have to deliver, either.

But it sure as heck felt that way.

And because of that, I always stayed true to my word.

I did the work and landed on my goal.

So why do I bring this up?

Well, this year, I decided to keep the habit alive. I set the intention to write and publish a piece of work every day from now until the day I croak.

Not only does it help sharpen my saw, so to speak. But the simple act of writing every day has also lead to many great opportunities for me.

I’d like to keep that spirit alive.

But — and this is a BIG BUT — I’ve already missed a handful of articles.

Uh oh, right?

WRONG.

My “goal” this year isn’t to write and publish an article every day. That was my goal last year. And as such, I made sure to complete it, even when I fell behind.

THIS YEAR I’m committed to reinforcing that habit.

But if I miss a day here and there, so be it.

I won’t be falling behind.

I won’t have to “catch up.”

I won’t have to deliver on something I missed.

I’ll simply pick up where I left off and keep going.

And that’s exactly what you should do, too.

Don’t put unnecessary pressure on yourself — it’s hard enough to reach your goals as it is.

If you miss a day, so be it.

If you fall behind, it’s okay.

If you do something you said you wouldn’t do, brush it off and recommit to it the next day.

The worst thing you can do is stop altogether.

Don’t do that to yourself.

Instead, stand up, dust yourself off, accept your setbacks, and keep going.

Two steps forward and one step back will still get you where you want to go.

Morning person? Night owl?

Either way, there’s an untapped fortune lying hidden in your schedule. If you’re finally ready to discover it, click right here and I’ll show you how.
